They use it in their product descriptions in reference to jewelry related products. Had Birdman started a jewelry business and/or clothing business yeah they wouldn't be able to do that but like you said they would simply refrain from using it. That's the thing it's sort of a catch 22. Had he trademarked it that would have limited its usage and restricting its viability.

Yes and he made alot of money for it selling the rights to video games, music, and merchandise. That's what Im saying, he would have had to have sold products using the word to make money. The way this whole bling bling thing is coming off is as if all he had to do was trademark it and magically he'd be entitled to all this money.

I initially agreed that he probably wouldnt have made awhole lot but going by using your "Lets Get Ready Rumble" example you might've proved us both wrong

Yeah @MarsPunka did throw a little money wrench in there. But "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" is a much stronger catchphrase in boxing. Dude has made paid appearances in like 20 movies just to say that phrase. The word bling bling isn't trademarked by anyone, yet the only instances we can see of its "commercial use" is it being written in product descriptions?

It would limit its usage commercially but not socially. That's how the word became a buzz word to begin with.

Alright, how did the guy initially trademark "Lets get ready to rumble"? What product did he associate it with to get started? What ever dude did is what Birdman and them could have done.

Maybe the process involves trademarking the name in every industry to make sure you have all bases covered.

I *think* he trademarked it because it became the standard opening for a boxing match. It became part of the product they were selling.

Thats just my theory though i dont really know what im talking about

I wonder if he gets paid off sports games. How they always play that recording of him shouting his ready to rumble

I feel the same way that @KOohbt and @iLLaV3 feel. We come up with new shiit all the time. We have an endless source of creativity in us so the next step for all the young niiggas is to start getting paid off of it.

YOLO shoulda been trade marked. "Try me" needs to be trademarked by Def Loaf. "I don't like" shoulda been trademarked. "FDB" by Young Dro shoulda been trademarked.

I know every single idea is not gonna make 100 million dollars but wht ever money it does make deserves to go to the person who created it.

It's hard to put dollars on stuff that we just consider natural and normal. I've said before. We have trouble realizing that when bobby shmurda, just some Jamaican kid from nyc does a dance with his fam and friends in his hood he didn't ever expect it to be done at a golf tournament with cacs who are so far removed from his life that we can't even fathom how influential we are. It's hard to put dollar value to things unique and natural to us. Saying bruh is so normal that we didn't expect it to be some internet meme and join the lexicon of white speech like it has we just say it. We gotta have a blueprint on how we can put dollar signs on our culture. I think we are starting to see that come to life. We are a small part of this world (african Americans). But we are extremely popular and copied globally. We can make our own market out of our culture and box cacs out. I feel that when we do that, we can start funneling that money into bigger institutions. We gotta shape this future humanity is heading to. Most cacs as you can see in their art see a dystopic future. Just look at their movies. All doom and gloom. When I think of the future I think of our immense creativity needing to be nurtured so that we can make our world how we want it. The whole purpose of being human to me is to figure out ways to make things easier to free up time for us to imagine and create what we want out of the universe. It's at our disposal. We are gods, we need to think that way. I know I do.

Yeah, sometimes we dont realize that what we do is culturally impactful because it is so normal for us but once you see the shiit start to spread and transcend our culture, that's when you should be rushing to the trademark offices and filing that paper work.

@L&HH I know you care about defending the patent/trademark/copyright, but the fact is...this is all speculation because you're saying they might not have ever been able to defend it.

Let them do it then see what happened.

No one else hesitates to defend their I.P.
