From what I understand, most police jobs make you do the physical training requirement at employment. They don't make you retest. That's how you have the stereotype of the fat police officer parking at dunkin' donuts all night. Some of the more competitive departments like NYC, Chicago, and the West Coast ones have retests but most don't.
