This right here. this is why the statement "respect your elders" never sat well with me. aside from immediate family, I think respect is something that must be earned by all individuals regardless of age.

I'm only 34, but I've seen waaaaay to many people older than me that deserve no respect but yet walk around with this air of pomposity that frankly disgusts me.

if your some sort of prolific businessman, givin back to the community in some way or have done something extremely noteworthy in the eyes of your fellow man then I respect that. outside of that, respect must be earned and I of course hold myself to that same standard.
