Americans really don't care about privacy anymore.
It's common knowledge that jail/prison phone calls are monitored/recorded but for them to be leaked to the public is crazy. When we are listening to these, we have to remember that young thug (like many of us) is having a phone conversation where he is saying things that aren't meant to be heard by everyone.

I don't say sh*t in private I wouldn't say in person.

This isn't directed at you specifically but if this is how loose and gossipy people normally talk....they need to reevaluate their life. I could understand if dude was 19, 20, something like that. He's 34.

Okay.

I don't think Andre "won" any Grammys for anyone. I believe Killer Mike won his Grammy cause his album was great + all the hard work he put in.

We have differing opinions on this all good.

I am just very frustrated with Andre 3000. And the years he didn't rap. So my thoughts are coming from that place.

And I'm bothered by people giving him passes for being a great. He is nowhere near Nas or Jay Z's level of work output and longevity.
I didn’t get frustrated when some of my favorite athletes retired. They gotta do what they feel like they gotta do because people get old. We age, we fall off and die. Andre3000 felt like it was his time to retire from the rap game because he just didn't have it in him anymore to continue performing at a high level. You gotta think, he raised the bar so high even he couldn't keep up with it. There was an Outkast reunion set at Coachella and they did so poorly if you google it you'll see negative reviews. He even seemed nervous on stage.

The thing about high art, cause that's what he used to make, unlike a lot of low-grade rap you see today, is that you can burn out quick. He burned out. However, he still has enough talent and gift in him to drop us some fire every now and then.

That's why Young Thug jelly. It's cause he doesn't command the same amount of respect in Hip Hop as Andre3000 especially considering the sheer amount of music and guest appearances he makes. If anything...his hate reeks of self-frustration... He did it to himself. Lot of times when people have self-hate they lash out at others. Dude was depressed in prison and hating on everyone. Normal shyt. You, however, don't have a good excuse for the hate. It's more like you don't understand the concept of retirement but that a retiree can still be like a Sleeping Giant, wake up for a bit and crush the fukking buildings. And THAT'S why Andre3000 is considered one of the greats.

Well said. I read everything you said. I'm not a fan of Thug at all. Andre with Outkast was amazing.

I hope he drops a solo album one day.

I wish he'd drop albums like Nas, Ghost and Rae. But it's up to him.

He's the type of poet that writes something...gets frustrated for whatever reason, balls up the paper and throws it away. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried making a solo rap album already but just wasn't satified with it. Kinda like how Dr. Dre is with the Chronic series. They are done. Finito. Nikkas could get in a car accident and die and wouldn't get that chance to change their mind and finally release it. For example, look at all the potential hits that Prince and Timbaland sitting on. They'll make some shyt and throw it in the vault.

A producer or rapper will make a song and think..'oh this shyt is ass' and throw it in the bushes...but in reality that mufuka is fire. Sometimes an artist is their own worst enemy.

Word. I can see that. Especially with Dre's story.

Kool Keith on the other hand kept going and alot of his new work is dope.

Keith I think released an album every year since 2000. Sometimes several.

So his discography is this whole array over time fans can pick and choose from.

I wish more artists did that. James Brown was like that and James' is one of Keith's biggest influences.

I mean Outkast getting on led to a whole movement doing their thing but let’s forget about that. Also Killer Mike started on an Outkast song. Also people will say that Andre had some influence with Young Thug’s style, they’re talking about dressing weird but still :yeshrug:

It’s funny, people say Big Boi is better but this man is saying Dre ain’t put nobody on.. interesting. Also, Big Boi gave us Janelle Monae :yeshrug:

That dumbass jiggaboo was paying untold THOUSANDS in Lawyer fees and not once did they tell him to watch what the hell he says on a PRISON phone call?!?!

This ain’t Will Smith in Enemy of The State getting his phone tapped by a shady government organization. This is simply a dumb ass nikka BEING a dumb ass nikka and now the world gets to see how petty, delusional, and DUMB he is in real life from his own words cause by his own actions.

I disagree. My dad passed recently and there are some conversations I've had with people really close to me that I don't want everyone to hear. And people vent about their jobs all the time. That's not something they want their employers to hear.

That's different. The lawyers would just let him know not to incriminate himself.
I've looked it up and there are some grey areas on whether releasing inmates phone call are legal depending on the circumstances.

A lot of things aren't meant to be done alone. Music is like that too. I don't know Kool Keith's story. Is it because he has a good team? There's a sweet science to rap where when things fall into place at just the right time, in the right hands and the right moment. A classic is born.

But if classics are dropped consistently then it has to be because more than one person is contributing to make it so. Sponsoring it, fostering it. Mixing it just right. Consistently producing it just right. Who does he have in his corner?

Keith manages his own career by himself. He's built so many relationships over time, different producers, core producers like Kut Master.

He was signed to Sony and other majors briefly. But most of his career he's been independent.

But he's a leader with what he does.
