Pusha has said that Biggie is his favorite artist and that he's patterned alot of his style after him. He has the lyricism down but he's never been able to make a commercial song that resonates outside of a niche fanbase. He's doing it his way, but that comes with pros and cons.
When battling more successful artists, you have to come with hits also to truly "beat" Drake. Yes, Pusha destroyed Drake in the rap battle, but Drake has dropped "In My Feelings" and it was forgotten to the general public. 98% of them have no clue who Pusha is so it's out of sight, out of mind to them. Us on this messageboard are hip-hop heads who represent probably 1% of the actual listening public.
R.Kelly and others have shown that you can withstand anything as long as you can keep dropping hits.
Pusha can't really get mad when major artists like Drake "play the game" just because he chose not to. Nobody on a higher level is gonna battle on his terms. That would be foolish of them. The game is the game
