I know the same group of kids that go to 285 Kent and shyt? Name the rap that isn't ironic. Last I checked, Asap, Drake, Future, Action Bronson, etc all fall in that category.

IMO, Young Thug is closer to Lil B, Riff Raff, or even Trinidad James.
I don't really hear ironic stuff from the guys you mentioned.

why are you trying to illegitimize his music? why does he have to be a novelty? people don't really like it for non ironic purposes? im lost here? let me get back in my time machine to 2010 see ya later

I'm not trying to illegitmize his music at all.
I believe there are people who like him because he makes good music you can dance to, ride to and smoke to. I def see that.
I'm just saying there are also a group of people who like him because he's this outrageous version of southern trap rap and a lot of bloggers fall into this category.
I personally think he's cool. I never said he's wack or anything.
This is one of the instances I feel like I can say the phrase "it is what it is."
No judgments. Just my thoughts.

the coli is the fox news of hip hop sites

shyt is alarming

why do I even bother

Its not the Coli. Its just the booth. I called nikkas out on it yesterday. Its like this place is permantley stuck in 2006 or something :pachaha:

Its was better back in the day, cause certain posters were able to shake shyt up and post current music and spark great controversy and debate.

But it seems like alot of those posters stopped posting. So now the ignorance really shows nowadays. Young Thug been rapping since 2009. How the hell can he be a plant to brainswash young black kids into being homo thugs?? :heh:

I gotta agree. The booth fell off, or perhaps it's just a dry spell, but either way, something is wrong.

Where am I going to go to be exposed to new music now? Boxden, rap radar, some hipster blog? :scusthov:

Of all the rappers in the world....why Young Thug? :why: Man it's like they're really trying to give Hip Hop a bad name by giving this talentless hack any kind of shine

At a certain point, it all comes down to voice. The story hip-hop has often told about itself is that it’s a game of lyrical one-upmanship, an ecosystem of artistes looking for words others couldn’t possibly use better. But just as often — more often — it’s a runway show of vocal eccentricity. Words, and how they’re arranged, take a back seat to how they’re delivered, the fresh paint on the tired old car.

This isn’t the world where the more legible Drake or Jay Z is king, but one that privileges E-40’s roller-coaster whoops, Pimp C’s unfinished sneers, Guru’s rigid rasp, Snoop Dogg’s liquid drawl. Sometimes this sort of specificity is an express train to success, and sometimes the obstacle that knocks the train off the track. But hip-hop would be nowhere without its stylists.

Yup, this tells me all that I need to know in terms of what they think about rap. And lol and trying to group Young Thug with these guys...his voice is horrible, and the artists mentioned here had good lyrics and delivery. Young Thug lacks both.
