Another thing: who is Thugger, the person? The biggest artists today matter to their fans because they identify with them, personality or message wise. Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Big Sean, etc are human and the people feel them. Kevin Gates has a very loyal fanbase who identifies with him as a person moreso than the cousin fukking gimmicks. It seems like Thugger only has a gimmick, which 300 seems to be pushing to the max now.

Whats the difference between him and Iggy & Mackelmore where media/blog coverage and 'talk' far exceeded their actual popularity.

:dwillhuh:

Not understanding the correlation here.

Iggy Azeala had at least one major hit ("Fancy") and went plat. Mackelmore has 2-3 plat singles and a platinum album. Young Thug has never sold more than 35k. His last shyt got outsold by a Wu album they weren't even promoting.

Thug gets the media coverage and publicity of a Cole/Kendrick level artist with a fraction of the numbers just like Iggy was getting awards and nominations as most popular artist, and Fancy was everywhere in the world but her arena tour was cancelled due to low tix sales. Something aint line up

Thug had Lyor Cohen behind him, which is why he was all in the media for a minute. With this flop I doubt it'll continue.

Hella tempted to make a young thug is a industry plant thread right now. Though I'm not hip to the atl scene it never appeared to me that this dude had an actual fanbase. Rich Homie quan had an organic grassroots following from Type Of Way and Thug pretty much road his coat tails into the mainstream. Before the rich gang shyt started the first and only time I ever heard of him was when he was wearing a dress for some photoshoot. He didn't have poppin shows (still don't), didn't have a cross over singles (still don't), all his projects were HARD bricks.

I feel like people higher up are very invested in trying to make this young thug thing happen. The fishy part is Quan has been phased out of the mainstream while thug seems to be sticking around despite his lack of success. I mean Barter 6 was a fukkin flop, how many other artists draw the attention and services of Lyor Cohen fresh off 13k sales?

The only place I saw people vouching for this mango's buzz was the booth and these nikkas don't go outside so I knew not to trust it
