He is clearly extremely talented, and I will continue to listen to everything he puts out.

But it's been 2 years since lifestyle. He needs to drop a fukking mainstream hit song. Top 5. Now. Maybe he needs the j Cole treatment. It's very clear random people aren't gonna start listening to him until he does. No more excuses Jeffery. Drop a huge hit, or admit you aren't really a trancendent talent.

he doesn't do interviews, you dont see commercials, or any late show performances....

he doesnt have any samples on his projects, so no sample clearance.

he is a walking meme, so no PR is needed as the blog latch on to whatever he does for shock value.

he writes all his own stuff & all his producers/features are people who probably only want money on the backend...

It has 10 songs, so only 10 songs mixed & mastered, at most $10k spent.

bottom line

sounds like whatever he sells is 100% profit = win for Thug/300 Entertainment.

an artist like Kendrick has heavy pr, samples out the ass a plethora of producers, a band...etc.

Thug at 16k sounds like the better investment. At anytime they can officially copyright/monetize his other free materiel and sue Youtube/Soundcloud for the back money.

I've noticed that the lyrical rapper are still the ones selling the most records. The trap artists may get radio play more, but Cole, Kendrick, Sean, Logic, and Drake are still selling more records. Future is probably the only trap artist that's selling high-end numbers.

At the end of the day the people want intelligence in their music. People will download that dumbed down garbage all day, bump it for 1 week and forget about it. Its disposable. No soul in it. People will monetarily support music with SUBSTANCE

As some have already mentioned in this thread, Young Thug currently doesn't (and probably will never) have a large, impassioned fan base who truly relates to his persona which is why the chances of him even being considered as an iconic level, underground rapper like Gucci, Boosie or Yo Gotti is slim to none.
