Sounds about right.... Stoner and Danny Glover are lowkey hits and would have been good to go on a album.

2 years later he's put out hella free material and his songs are starting to sound a lil redundant. I'm not gonna put all the blame on him because he obviously has a shytty deal... But is Hi Tunes even coming out still?

I don't like these articles, that make it seem like Famous Rappers get "screwed over" or are pawns.

They can still do a dozen festivals throughout the year and be up $100k. Appear at a club/bar every night, another $100k.

Even with all these free mixtapes, the videos are still getting rotation on MTV, Revolt/Fuse... How are they losing by not having an album in stores?

blame his black sister while ignoring the overbearing jew executives in this issue breh
:snoop:

his sister isn't the issue...

labels are reluctant to release albums these days...because it's more feasable in this STREAMING era to just push mixtapes with less overhead and obligations to the artist .....

do you realize how much his label 300 HAS MADE JUST OFF OF HIS YOUTUBE VIEWS ALONE?????

this is a new era....albums are NOT a priority for the industry

no big budgets are neccesary...and most of the legwork is done by the artist anyway....in terms of song production and marketing it via the net

it's a sad hustle...cause the labels are the benificieries on the back end profit and control the rights and intellectual property...

why you think Lyor told him to pump his breaks on his song output.... Lyor is the REAL QUALITY CONTROL

trust me it wasn't for NOTHING..... :sas1:

the reason you made this thread now..is because of the relevance he was able to create off of those songs...

as well as show and streaming revenue....

if i'm Lyor ...and im already eating of his shows...merchandising and monetized his youtube views along with his other streaming revenue

the fukk i look like stressing myself over releasing an Album by him..... :manny:

it's a different business model these days...

we live in a "singles based subscriber" environment
you might not understand but it isn't MEANT for you to understand:dame:

How do the producers get paid in this when all a dude does is drop mixtapes? Do they just get paid up front? Or do they get that streaming youtube money too.

Honest question

Yes streams are now factored in w/ airplay royalties (TV + Radio). As far as upfront payments, the Rappers will usually pay up if he wants the track professionally mixed (the Producer needs to provide tracked out stems), they probably won't pay $5k-10k like a record label would on an official album, but I'll say if a Producer gets enough mixtape placements thruout the year thats enough to eat on byitself.

Besides that, the independent market is stronger than ever for Producers, every city in America has 500+ dopeboys trying to become rappers, these guys make $5-10k a day and can easily afford to pay MikeWiLL/DJ Mustard but an A-List Producer only wants to Produce Artists who have an actual project/release date. So needless to say there is a strong gap in this market and a Producer can clean up easily. Anywhere from 100k-1M can be made.
