Bickerstaff has been one of the best coaches at rebuilding a squad the league has had in recent memory. Hopefully, he can start taking the next step and shed that foundational coach label and turn the Pistons into an actual contender down the road.

I understand why people are saying Ja and it’s not that outlandish. Cade does need a secondary ball handler or it will lead to the same exact situation last year where everyone is going to load up on him and dare anyone else to be a creator for others or get their own shot .
This is where Ivey’s development comes in …problem is he hasn’t really shown that he and Cade can both coexist ..There have been flashes ..but he’s about to get paid and the fit there isn’t as clear as you would want it to be ..not even close really .

The issue with the Ja fit is he cannot play off ball because he isn’t a threat from 3 fr . Cade can play off ball and does need to at times tbh but do you want to do that for current Ja? I would lean towards no but it ain’t really crazy .

Ivey only getting payed if the fit looks right. If last year's short sample size is a real indicator then their play styles can fit in theory. Ivey shot a ridiculous number on catch and shoot 3's and I think from the floor in general. And if he can run an effective pnr along with his solid drive and kick game then they could really have something. The problem is they just need to finally see it. This duo had been snake bitten in regards to getting development time on the court together to build chemistry. I hope this Ivey hiccup is the last one and they can finally asses if he's worth throwing bread at as the copilot.
