We're on the blood path now
Ill start this off by saying I'm only a Christian in function, not form, and my spiritual beliefs incorporate Buddhism, Kabbalah, Jungian Psychology and Stoicism. With all of that said, very few books speak to me like the bible does. Dont think God wrote it but he definitely uses it sometimes to send messages.
Here are mine:
1) Job 32:8 "For it is the spirit in man, the breath of the almighty, that gives man understanding." I had a dream that illustrated this spiritual axiom...and I heard a word in the dream that I knew had to have been Hebrew. Did some googling and came across this verse that actually explains my dream to a T. Spirit = breath
2) Matthew 11:19 "The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say 'here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is proven right by all her children."
Love this verse. Wisdom is proven right by all her children means that you can only judge a man to be wise by the fruits of his wisdom, such that his life reflects how truly wise he is and has been. Basically the passage was referring to the things people said about Jesus Christ. John the Baptist was an ascetic and people talked shyt about him; jesus was the exact opposite and the people still talked shyt. Neither one could satisfy people's doubts. Only way to prove Christ was Christ was by the fruits of his actions. I think of this verse when I have doubters.
3) Proverbs 24: 33-34 "A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man." I love and hate this verse at the same time. It has truth to it and that can be good and bad depending on what actions I'm taking. Basically it means if you aren't meeting your needs and responsibilities like you are supposed to, then ruin will come to you when you least expect it. I think about it when I splurge on clothes or video games or whatever and then something random happens and I end up having to use money i shouldn't have needed to use.
