People dont make a distinction between reggae and dancehall or what?



I'm really asking...cause I was playin this:



In the whip earlier. bytch I was with was like, "oh cool...reggae!"

Im like, this is jamaican dancehall dummy.

She was like whats the difference? My best explanation was you can break a bytch off on the dancefloor to some dancehall...cant do that with reggae :yeshrug:

For me...there's three types of reggae.

Roots (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, etc)
Dancehall (Spragga Benz, Bling Dawg, etc) with more of a focus on MCs, "Toasting", etc.
and Dub (King Tubby, Le Scratch Perry, The Scientist, etc)

Then you got that UK Skinhead reggae that originated in predominantely white london neighborhoods in te 50s and 60s and SKA and whatnot.
