My favorite is Common. He was so dope lyrically on those first two albums
The wordplay on those albums are crazy. He actually started really getting conscious tho on One Day It Will All Make Sense and on. Electric Circus was a disappointment and he pretty much fell off a lot musically after Be, but he had a good run and is still active. He probably was at his peak career wise with Like Water...His features and non album cuts were all ways ill too
Common had a knack for using simple ass metaphors and still having that shyt come off tight. He was lyrical without being complex. This one of my favorite Common songs. This nikka says, 'you fake like a smile/ like a hug I'm tight'

During an appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” last week, the Oscar and Golden Globe winner explained why black people should extend a hand to white people and “forget about the past” as it pertains to race relations.
“If we’ve been bullied, we’ve been beat down and we don’t want it anymore. We are not extending a fist and we are not saying, ‘You did us wrong.’ It’s more like, ‘Hey, I’m extending my hand in love,’” he said to host Jon Stewart. “Let’s forget about the past as much as we can and let’s move from where we are now. How can we help each other? Can you try to help us because we are going to try to help ourselves, too.”
