Started listening in the late 90's when I was about 12 years old. I had moved to a new city and a new school. The school was really big and most of the students listened to rap music and were into hip hop fashion and all that, so that's how I was introduced to it.

There are videos of me from age 4-5 trying to break dance to cult jam and shyt, first real rapper I was ever a fan of was LL, I was always around the music but walking with a panther is like the first album I really remember sitting off by myself listening to.

First video I ever saw was Big Daddy Kane. My pops was really not feeling rap. Thought it was trash music. But as a kid, I remeber seeing Kid-N-Play and thinking they were 'fly'. Then I remember everyone in my school knew the lyrics to 'I Got It Made'. I felt like I had to learn the lyrics too in order to fit in. The 'It Takes Two' :gladbron: and 'Bust A Move' dropped and I was hooked. I was 9 years old. :manny: I never messed with Wild Thing by Tone Loc though  .

Ludacris was the first rapper I fukked with heavy. He was killing it back in 03/04. Dude just reminded me of like, a class clown... which I could relate to.

From there I pretty much followed the trends :manny:
I got real into G Funk though once San Andreas came out.

My fam on my dad's side is from NY, so he would periodically go out there and grab random music. Not that he was looking for rap in particular, this was the early 80's....he's one of those guys that just collects music in general. So around '83 or so he came back with all kinds of tapes of rap shyt, electro, "Planet Rock"....various stuff that he'd play around the house. I heard it like :ohhh: and been into rap ever since.

For the record I'm not trying to paint my dad as some super duper rap head....he's the first person that played "The Show" for me but he wasn't like :krs: "this is the jam!"....he'd be just as likely to play Credence Clearwater Revival as he was to play Above The Law.
