Not only mental health they don’t care about your physical health either.
Real talk, you could literally die at your job and HR will be calling your replacement before they get your body up outta there. I remember working at a factory a long time ago and this dude had a heart attack and they fired him for too many points :picard:

I can say, my employer probably doesn’t care but my manager does. She always tell us that’s what sick time is for or if we need to flex our time. She will tell you that she taking off to get a breather from work. Hell I’m taking two right now because I’m about to max out my sick time.

Same. My managers encourage me to take a day or two off anytime I feel overwhelmed. They're very understanding.

People in here talking as if mental health and performance are mutually exclusive

Good companies understand that the two are intertwined; If the work environment fosters growth and some modicum of decency, the workers will generally perform better as long as they're there

the scorched earth capitalist mentality of churn and burn is a race to the bottom; Only a few have equity and influence while the foundation is being neglected . Sure you can get away with it for a while , but you're bleeding money unnecessarily with perpetual onboarding and hiring cost, etc. it will catch up and eventually, like all top-heavy , c-level centered corps the operate like a clubhouse moreso than a functional business, shyt will collapse under it's own weight.

No, you shouldnt expect your job to be your nanny, nor should you buy into all that bullshyt "family" , "culture" talk.
a good company, not a prestigious company or even a 'Fortune..' whateverthefukk company....but a good company, should at the minimum provide a comfortable, organized, environment to support a diverse and competent workforce with reasonable wages, benefits and clearly defined PTO policy. none of this limitless PTO bullshyt.

very basic shyt, but some middle managers and VPs will gaslight you as if they cant afford to do any of this shyt, because "fukk you" that's why, even though they dont outright say it.

That or some ashhole in management wants to make the fattest bonus possible by staying ridiculously under budget.

It's a two way street, companies have to invest in their workforce one way of another to compete with rival companies or risk losing their talent and earning a shyt rep as a result and so forth .

Basically, It's cheaper to just treat your workers right and pay them fair market consistent rates from the jump.

At my old job…there was a woman who was maybe in her late 60s/early 70s, she was a nice old white lady, used to make us cookies and was always friendly with everyone…one day she had an heart attack climbing up the three flights of stairs to our office. Died in the stairwell :francis: Business went on like usual. She had been there for like 25 years too. That’s when I knew these muthafukkas didn’t give a fukk about any of us. So care even less right back :yeshrug:

I got one of them jobs that constantly talks about providing services for folks with mental health issues and I've talked to some folks that have used it.

They say it's free and they offer many options.

Arguably the biggest byproduct of American capitalism is waste. People will use a knife set until it gets dull...and won't learn to sharpen the knives themselves, nor even learn where to take them to be professionally sharpened. They'll just toss the whole set and buy another. I personally believe that except for the inconvenience and credit rating hassle, a disturbing number of people would do the same even with cars.

If you think corporations in this place won't fling people by the wayside in similar fashion, you are wide asleep.

Capitalism you're either a worker or the employer

And if you want to be treated well as worker you better be in high demand and offer some valuable shyt to potential employers.
The more valuable you are considered the better you're treated. With more time off and resources for your mental health as well.
If you're an employer whether you're self employed or employ others your mental health doesn't matter neither tho unless you got a product that consistently generates revenue.

At the end of the day you'll probably only really be able to focus your life solely on your mental health in retirement. That's why if you can retire early it's worth it.
