Modern producers cant be legends because they allegedly cant play instruments. None of these nikkas (save for a few) played instruments other than a piano or an organ lol.

Khaled's credits, in most cases, come from him putting the song together. He's made some beats, but like Diddy his production is putting the song together: "I need this artist over this type of beat" and they curate the sound while they bring in other producers to make a beat based on what it is they want. Difference is, Diddy doesn't make beats and Khaled does.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..

i remember it dropped on a kayslay tape not long after BP dropped.

and I think in one of those histories of the Blueprint type of vids/articles, I remember reading/hearing that Em wanted to give him an original beat, but either Jay or him was on tour or some shyt, so he just sent renegade minus Royce

I know Renegade was already Em’s song but I never heard about Jay using pre writtens for it. That’s new to me.

IDK man, you might be right... But I could also see Khaled's big ass taking a nap on the sofa in the studio then waking up after everyone goes home and going all Deebo on the cat at the mixing board for the tape and slapping his name on it.

This is ANOTHER narrative that needs to be deaded. This shyt ain’t true at ALL. I was actually gonna come in the thread and address this but me replying to this post is enough for me.

Khaled ain't deeboing credits from nobody. You can't just slap your name on a track. There's paperwork involved in that whole process. He'd be hit with lawsuits at this point.

not true for ALL new yorker, but a large % of them. I know a lot of people from new york from back in the day and some of them would tell me straight to my face, "if it aint from NY, it aint hip hop". New Yorkers are some of the most biased mfers on earth. They basically ran Hammer out of hip hop, but when they got their own version of hammer with less talent(Puffy), they praised him like he was God..

Kanye West has one of the best discographies in hip hop is one of the worst imo. If we stopped at MBDTF I might agree, but Ye, JIK, Yeezus, and the Dondas are all in the decent to mid of not worse range.
Bad take. His discography is undoubtedly one of the best.

CD, LR, Grad, 808’s, MBDTF, WTT. All have cases for classic and are all influential, seminal albums in their era of hip-hop. Off those albums alone his discography is A1.

Then you have albums like Yeezus that was an artistic risk and there’s a divide in who loves it and hates it. People also fukked with the Pablo album and even the shyt with Cudi was critically acclaimed.

The Donda albums are :trash: tho

No. Y’all pay too much attention to media. I’m born and raised out here kid I know what it is. Matter fact. Nas even broke this down on his Podcast with Ice Cube. It was certain media and certain DJ’s . But most people fukked with other artists from all over. That’s facts. nikkas got mad about getting booed when damn near all of our fav NYC legends have been booed before. It’s a part of the game up here. We boo nikkas. Other states ain’t used to that type of shyt so they took it personal like it was just them.

The media?? Did you miss the part when I said I actually personally KNOW a lot of new yorkers? lol. I've been to the state many times. I was in the army with new yorkers. I have family from NY. Do you really believe I'm basing my opinion off of one or 2 magazines?

Wording off, but it's more of the fact that I've seen it better than everyone else's and no one comes close in a sense when there are plenty that do. It's like he's never made a bad or disappointing album when he has multiple.
