A lady I worked with said something like this happened to her, but in real life. She said her husband smelled some smoke or something and ran in the room and woke her up like there was a fire. They investigated and I guess something small had caught fire because of a candle. She got mad at him and said why didn't you go get the kids?! He told her we can always make new kids…

Your mom and wife/husband would want to you to save the kids anyway. Why would a man want their wife to face grieving the preventable death of a child? The man is suppose to be strong enough for everyone to not make selfish choices about his wants but others.

And as a woman the only choice no question is the child. You birthed this person from your loins and the creator of this life. It's like God running out a burning building leaving you behind.

But that choice isn't made out of love for the child's future. Most likely people would sit there like "who do I save?? I can't live without my wife/mother" their not like "if only I could save my child but his life will be horrible and sad without a mother so let me let him die". The choice was made selfishly.

And even though not usually under horrible circumstances or at a young age, all children (adult or young) have to lose their mothers. That's life.

I'd save my mother, I can get another wife and have plenty more kids, I only have one mother.

I'd resent my wife or kid for costing me my mothers life if I saved either one of them, but that's just the type of person I am.
