Your Most Preferred Activity While Listening To An Album for the 1st Time...

Mine:

I like to play some sort of video game or, at the least, be cleaning or doing something where I'm not 100% paying attention to the music. Reason being: I am too critical when I give my complete attention the very first time. I like for the music to soak through a couple times, get myself slightly familiar with the music, and then the songs appear to just become more enjoyable than if I sat there with headphones scrutinizing every measure of every song.

Some examples I can think of off-top:

Gza/Genius - Liquid Swords I must've listened to that album thirty times while playing this old PC game, Civilization (the first one).

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt I had the NBA Live on smash

Young Jeezy - The Recession I was playing MLB: The Show (whatever year)

Now, I'm about to listening to the new Nas joint while playing Civilization Gods & Kings.

Of course, everyone is different. How do YOU prefer to listen to an album the first time?

I go for a walk headphones up. I can read or surf the web or do anything else while listening to new music. Usually I'll give an album 3 to 4 listens before I disregard it or say it's good. It's hard for me to find music I don't like cause I'll give just about anything a fair chance and really try and listen to the production and lyrics when walking.

I'm usually on my computer at work when I check out new albums these days. My preferred way though is rolling the whip on a sunny day.

Just recently I listened to Pluto for the first time with a group a people and we were all like whats with all this autotune trash?

Yeah. I've also excluded stuff if I was too focused on something else. Give it a try a couple weeks later when I'm not doing anything and I'm "How did I not like this?"
