Nas or not, this is the most fascinating rap story in a minute. Usually the fukkery in hiphop doesn't result in dope music.

I'm still thinking this is Esco, though. lol

What does Nas have to gain by doing this? It's not like this is some well publicized thing, only real hip hop heads have even heard of Your Old Droog. To take the time to record FREE music under an alias would be one of the dumbest career moves ever for Nas, and thats saying a lot, considering the L's he's taken. This is basically limited to dudes on hip hop message boards who are really in touch with the culture, so you can't even call it a publicity stunt when there's no publicity to be gained from it.

So if it IS Nas, why?

If Nas released an album as Your Old Droog tomorrow and also released one under his own name, which would you think sells more?

If Nas goes on tour tomorrow as Your Old Droog, do you think he would fill up the same venues he would compared to him performing as Nas? fukk no.

It's not him.

I still dont think its Nas but I think the kid has overplayed his hand maybe just a little now.
Because I think he's playing it up to troll people by leaving subliminals to add to the talk

He's making genuinely dope music and people wanting to hold onto the belief that its Nas might hurt him a little

Granted, the "Is Nas really Old Droog" is not that much of a buzzed topic as people think either. Like we're talking about it and some folks on twitter and maybe some blogs but I dont know if other broads and social media outlets really are.

The fact that his first concert ever at Webster Hall is the biggest red flag but imagine if you see guys like Large Professor, Cormega, etc. all there around the stage and then this white guy actually comes out and start rapping :heh:

The crowd will be like :gladbron::dwillhuh::beli:

Then all of a sudden he drops the mic but the rapping is still going on in the background and then Nas drops from rafters like Sting in '97 lol
:wow:
memories!!!!

I don't really have an opinion either way on who it is, but why does EVERYTHING have to be about career moves and taking Ls. What happened to just making dope music and releasing it? Having fun. Everyone complains about the state of hip hop but when an artist, assuming it is nas, does something new and just sort of interesting, everyone's all about the career moves. If it is nas, when was the last time your favorite rapper put out some dope free tracks with an interesting concept just for the listeners? So what if it's just for the hip hop heads on message boards. I wish more rappers would do it for us. It would keep the music vital.

If it's not nas, it's beyond corny and I hope dude disappears.

a real publicity stunt would have been too obvious, if there was to be pages on magazine and street ads talking about the "mysterious" rapper, it wouldn't have lasted that long, they would have set a date and said "he will reveal his identity at such such date" beyonce, jay z or lady gaga would have done it that way. But there's one thing you didn't take in count about nas: he's impredictable. The guy didn't release any music since 2012 and is actually on tour for illmatic, even the featurings have been quite low, so I bet he was fiendng to make some music. What a better way to have fun that drop a disc without any pressure, subject matter and play with the fans. I'm would no be surprise that anthony saleh must have pushed this and giving him advice on how to put this in place. If that was a copycat, Nas would have adressed it a long time ago
