Was talking to my 18yr old cousin recently, he just graduated hs and played varsity football this past year. He believes you should "be a good sport and help your opponent up."

I told him, in my opinion, absolutely NOT. I'm not helping anyone up, ESPECIALLY in a violent game like football. Basketball eh, maybe. But Magic wasn't trying to help Isaiah up, even when they were good friends.

Now, if you're legitimately hurt/injured after a play and need attention, that's 100% different.

But otherwise, expend your own energy to get up or let your teammates do that for you. I would expect the same treatment.

What say y'all?

Reminds me of Dennis Rodman smacking his teammate hand away when a Bulls player tried to help someone from the opposing team off the floor :mjlol:

I didn't it live but seen it on Youtube years after the fact, comment section was giving Rodman props for it :pachaha:

Yeah but that same player goes down and doesn't get up and both teams holding hands in a prayer circle. Make it make sense.

A kind gesture is a kind gesture and if you're upset about someone doing it then you're not a good person.

Only if they’re hurt or I did something dirty inadvertently. But if they just tripped or something then nah fukk that. I’ll look at you and then not help you up. I might even step over you or talk shyt to you if I fouled you hard and you’re going to the line.

I have a general dislike for anybody on the other team once the game starts. We can be civil before and after the game. But while the game is happening? I’m gonna treat you like you disrespected my family. And I hope they feel the same way about me. The competition is better that way. And most people play worse when they’re in their feelings. So I like to get my opponents in their feelings.

Friends outside competition…other than a “serious” injury, you got your own teammates to help you. It’s not so much a “rule” but moreso in the spirit of competition…

It’s about mentality…when we on that field, it’s US vs EVERYBODY. Ain’t no “friends” over there…:manny:
