This really isn't any news... Most of the founding fathers were racists and own slaves and as a black person you should believe that all these statues should come down.

However, nikkas need to think about what is achievable especially in the racists climate we currently live in.

To be honest this conversation is a catch 22 for blacks as well.

1. If you argue removal of all statues you fall right into the hands of white conservatives, who will argue that we need to keep all statues including any racists one. If this happens, blacks wont get any confederate statues remove let alone the ones of Washington, Lincoln or Jefferson.

2. If you argue for the removal of just the confederate statues you have a better chance of these being remove primarily on the bases that the confederate were racists but also traitors to this country. IF nikkas work these angle and play on white guilt from liberals, you will have more support and a better chance of removing these confederate statues.

At the end of the day the goal should be to remove all these racists figures but that will never happen in this country. You might be able to get whites to acknowledge the racism of the founding fathers but they will never remove the statues of Washington, Jefferson or whoever.

Confederate statues are all symbols of treason.

Washington, Jefferson, etc are not moral leadership.

They are political leadership.
