You'll still have some of that stuff in Healthcare IT (every IT department has techs that will fix computers). I guess you can say the basic principles/concepts are the same, but the processes/systems you'd use would be different and your approach is different, because your customer base is different. The way an IT department is run at a university (customer/user satisfaction is a huge impetus for change) will usually be different than the way it's managed at a Fortune 500 company, which can be different than the way a hospital IT is run.

what exactly does one do in health care IT? how is that related to or different than regular IT?
The difference is in specific applications unique to the healthcare field (alot of SQL), HIPAA/HiTech Act regulations, and it's the only IT field where it pays to be well-rounded, as opposed to specialized. Plus it's easy as fukk relative to other IT professionals.
