It had more to do with how out of place that verse felt in the song. The joint felt complete with J. Ivy's verse/poem at the end and the churchin'. Jay coming back with a superman verse just felt bolted on.
So It's Jay Z's fault that Kanye West took verses originally meant for the Blueprint 2 and put them on this song :childplease:

:snoop: You nikkas are supposed to be hip hop heads.

I was like :gladbron: cuz I had heard the OG version where hov only had one verse. however, that last verse is kinda underwhelming IMO. to this day, I still think kanye's verse is better than everyone else on that song.

I'm not gonna go as far and say he ruined the song, because his verse was still dope as hell. But you're right. That nikka jay can't go 3 bars without biggin himself up.

Never let me down and Diamonds remix are classic tracks from them. I always felt i could count on a Jay and Ye track to be amazing. Til that wack ass track on BP3.:scusthov: Watch the throne was disappointing too.

I thought that was the foundation of hiphop ? Where are all these rap songs where the MC isn't declaring how nice he is ? That makes no sense as a reason to not like that verse, and it's only an accusation I see leveled at Jay even though EVERY rapper does it on almost EVERY song.

Lmao I was just trying to think about which song it was that Jay dissed r. Kelly in, it's this one. "Dissing hov will get you maced"
He also dissed him on BBC and drop it like it's hot remix. Plus I imagine there's multiple subliminals

:leostare:Not sure that I ever said it's Jay's fault that the verse didn't fit well with the song (to me). I know that verse was a leftover from a previous project, but it doesn't/didn't change my reaction. Relax with that hip hop head set claiming:sitdown:

Well, if you didn't mean that then that's fine and that's on me. But the hating on every artist on here (besides Nas and Kendrick) is so much that when I come in here and see @Goat poster bytching I can only assume that we're about to have another hater's convention. With all that said, Jay Z's verses on that song were on t-shirts back when that album dropped. I can't find a single bit of fault with this song from anyone who participated in it.

Ya man, I had a bootleg with only the one Jay verse on that record. So when the album came out I was caught completely off guard by the second Jay verse. Literally had the :gladbron: face..

when i first heard it I was :blessed: but as I got older I realized 1. Kanye washed him on that song...2. He was rapping about himself while Yay was getting all deep and whatnot and it just didn't make sense at all. They had a damn slam poetry break. Not really the song to be on some braggadocio shyt. But :manny: Its a classic nonetheless. "Everybody wanna be Hov and Hov still alive":ehh:

He RUINED that song.

it :mindblown: me to this day that as great a MC as Jay is he can't take a verse or 2 on ye's song that he HAS to know is about the struggle of people of colour and NOT rap about how great he is.

This dude Jay REALLY believes his "presence is charity" :snoop:
It's not about the struggle of people of color, sometimes I think hiphop is too advanced for its fanbase :what:.

It's about not letting ___ down and putting it down for ___ , Kanye is not letting his 'father in law' down, putting it down for his grandfather and on.
Jay is not letting down the game, hiphop, the charts and how he put on for hiphop.
Dudes are different people, Kanye might do it for bytches fathers and have family that were activists. Jay doesn't give a fukk about Beyonces father and he did not have activists in his family. He loves hiphop though, he loves the streets, he loves battling rappers and came up with street nikkas and ballers.

Jays second verse was not for that song though, Kanye was just overwhelmed of finding a nice Jay throwaway verse. However the rhyming and flow is cold as fukk.

The only dude who completely wandered the fukk away was J. Ivy, talking about God speaks through him, using big words to disguise the fact that he's only talking about how nice he is. He had one line that was related to the topic of the song though, if someone fell of a cliff he would not let you go.

"It's Jizzay, homie you got plizzayed
take it like a man, the flow ran you off the stizzage
wasting your time trying to sue S.Dot
tell your lawyer take that civil case and drop it like it's hoooot"
