Currently I’m working 80-96 hours a week and I just put in my 2 weeks for my second gig cause my quality of life dropped. I’ve been sleeping on the wheel and I’m one of the few many New Yorkers who drives on a highway everyday for work. At this point I sleep at my second job. I don’t even need the second job honestly I’m just very greedy for money. My one job at the accounting firm pays me enough to pay my bills, live, eat and enjoy my life.

The key is to work smart not hard. If you’re working a low wage job, you need to lower your expenses and work at least as possible and spend 60 hours learning a high paying skill or trade. Hell, goto the gym or play basketball. Spend 60 hours studying for a IT cert something.

Giving a company like Walmart or Amazon 60 hours of your life per week is only making them richer and shorting your life span. That’s hustling backwards.

Here’s the thing though. The Coli is full of half listeners and people who cannot understand context. Nobody is saying you should work 80 hours at minimum wage jobs nor that you’re supposed work 60-80 hours forever. You work those hours while you’re young and building and as you get older you should be able to leverage the money you’ve made and connections you’ve made to earn while working less. Or, if you’re in a very bad financial position (as in poverty or broke with very little work skills) then you’re gonna need to work crazy hours just to get yourself out of the position you’re in, and that’s where working eighty hours at a low wage place would make sense, then use that money to improve your skillset to get a better paying job. You’re not working just to work, it’s to improve your lifestyle for people who WANT A BETTER LIFESTYLE.

For people who are satisfied with where they are in life, or don’t care about having a lot of money, or don’t need money, or have some random specialized talent that doesn’t require them to work much to get paid a lot, then the advice isn’t for them in the first place. That advice is for people who are stuck in a position in life that they don’t want to be in so they need to WORK their way out of it instead of complaining or trying to convince themselves they like their life instead of working more.
