Let's say you made $20 an hour, and you work an extra 20 hours every week. That would be an extra $300 per week after taxes, which is $1200 per month. If you invested that over 20 years at 9%, you would have over 770k.
What if you take that extra 20 hours every single week and learn a skill/trade that will pay you $50/hour so you can still invest that extra $20/hour and still be making $30/hour. You invested the same amount of money, but now you have that extra 20 hours a week for yourself.

When you think about increasing inflation and cost of living $700k won’t be shyt 20 years from now.

Here’s the thing though. The Coli is full of half listeners and people who cannot understand context. Nobody is saying you should work 80 hours at minimum wage jobs nor that you’re supposed work 60-80 hours forever. You work those hours while you’re young and building and as you get older you should be able to leverage the money you’ve made and connections you’ve made to earn while working less. Or, if you’re in a very bad financial position (as in poverty or broke with very little work skills) then you’re gonna need to work crazy hours just to get yourself out of the position you’re in, and that’s where working eighty hours at a low wage place would make sense, then use that money to improve your skillset to get a better paying job. You’re not working just to work, it’s to improve your lifestyle for people who WANT A BETTER LIFESTYLE.

For people who are satisfied with where they are in life, or don’t care about having a lot of money, or don’t need money, or have some random specialized talent that doesn’t require them to work much to get paid a lot, then the advice isn’t for them in the first place. That advice is for people who are stuck in a position in life that they don’t want to be in so they need to WORK their way out of it instead of complaining or trying to convince themselves they like their life instead of working more.
Working 60-80 hours week won’t improve majority of Americans lifestyle though. It’ll make them just enough to have a little extra spending money. The government will take a large percentage of that in taxes and 60-80 hours means less sleep and most likely eating fast food everyday because you’re to tire to cook. 60-80 hour work weeks is a ticket to an early grave.

I don’t even think you should work those hours while youre young. You will get a much higher return by using that time learning a profitable skill or trade. If you’re poor or struggling, then yes work 60 hours to get out of that hole. This is my advice:

1. work 60 hours week or as much as possible to get $1000 savings and $1000 emergency car fund and get out of that hole and get on your feet. Then work 20-30 hours maximum.

2. Cut your expenses down as much as possible. Get roommates/ move in with parents whatever you have to do.

3. Spend as much time in school or learning some type of high paying skill or trade

4. spend 60 hours a week getting paid for that high earning job or business

You study for 20 hours a week for 6 months and you can get certifications in IT and guaranteed to make $100k in a year.

kevin samuels advice is outdated. The cost of living is to high and the value of the dollar is to low to be literally working yourself to death just to live paycheck to paycheck.

life is bigger than work
the trick is to figure out multiple sources of revenue that will gradually ease you out of working for someone else
Exactly. Spend 60-80 hours working for yourself. Not someone else. You spend 60-80 working for someone else and they’ll profit more from your labor than you will.

Breh, where do you work at giving out all those hours? 60 hours a work week is basically a full time and a part time job together. If youre doing that, you aint doing shyt but work.

Most employers wont even give you those hours because they dont want to give overtime.

Yes breh, the assumption is you are either working multiple jobs, or you are working those hours building your own business (which I know a lot of the Coli is against so it’s whatever).

The real point though is, if you're a young man in good physical shape and you don’t have children, why are you NOT working as much as you can to build something for yourself? It’s not as though when you get older it’s gonna be easier to up your work rate if you’re behind. Why wouldn’t you use your youth to get ahead??

Not sure why so many on this site seem to be anti work.

The highest value man is independently wealthy and doesn't have to work.

Breh wakes up in the morning, drinks a breakfast smoothie, goes and does some volunteer work, hits the gym for 2 hrs, comes home to shower and eats some grilled fish, then either plays video games, hops in the pool/ocean or fukks some broads (maybe all 3).

Hops in his McLaren 720 and takes his woman out for a high class dinner with filet mignon, lobster, caviar and Dom P.

Returns home, smashes his broad, plays some more video games or reads a book...goes to sleep.

Wakes up the next day and checks out first class tickets to his favorite destinations.

I will say this depending on the field and sector working 50 plus hours or even 60 hours a week is common.

When I worked in DoD aerospace there were times we worked 60 to 70 hours a week to complete MROs on planes. Cause every day we were late delivering the plane to the government (American or foreign) the fine was 1 million dollars a day. So all engineers and other support were required to work OT to get those birds completed and in the air. Or heads would roll. But we got OT so making 6 figures was nothing even the entry level operators could make 90k a year cause they could get up to 80 hours OT a week.

When I was traveling overseas for telecom working 60 to 70 hours a week for assignments was common. One cause basically the facilities stay open 24/7, different schedules/time zones due to overseas work and there is no downtime in telecom cause folks need they phone access. There was no OT pay, but that was the reason our bonuses were 50k to 25k a year.

So yes some fields / sectors do require working more than 40 hours a week.

Question:

Shocked how many people are okay with average and mediocre lifestyle and trying to explain away why they shouldn't do a bit more to get more.

Answer:

This is why the black man is the least valued by our women. They see us toiling and slaving for the white man, meanwhile we can't employ our women and most of us can't afford for our women to not have to seek employment.
