One of the girl's is pretending to be something she's not. It would be hard to trust either one. If the girl on the bed was a monster, why would she send the dad under the bed? Sneak attack? If the girl under the bed is a monster, she's trying to cause confusion and misdirect.

Off the rip the way the girl on the bed sounds is too calm. Like, the one under the bed sounds legitimately scared. I’d believe the one under the bed for sure.

Someone on Twitter mentioned the “Dad/Daddy” thing. It’s similar to the Nick Fury gag from “Captain Marvel.” It’s possible the doppelgänger would assume you’d be addressed one way, when that’s actually not correct. My son calls me “Papa” directly, so if the kid under (and not on) the bed did that, I’d automatically :merchant:
