Violence is never going to work unless there is a broad consensus among the population. It reminds me of revolutions that lead to dictatorships in developing countries. Everyone does not agree on all issues hence the political systems produces candidates that ideologues don't like, even the ones who claim a mandate either from the right or left wind up negotiating down their positions because once in office they discover that their ideological base is not enough to govern. George HW was talking about not raising taxes and he did and Reagan as well.
