Adblocks only work in browsers. If you're using the mobile app or Smart TV you can't avoid ads.
Adblockers won't block YouTube ads because they are in the actual videos themselves.
I got YouTube Premium too...
No ads.
I can leave the shyt on my phone and play music videos and songs while resting in my pocket instead of it shutting off on mobile.
But that's why YouTube got so aggressive with the ads...to make people force themselves to purchase YT premium.

WRONG! I aint seen a damn ad on my phone apps since I bought my phone. There's MinminGuard (if you have Xposed installed), AdAway (if you have a rooted phone) and Blokada (if your phone is unrooted)

Also for those who really want a distraction free youtube experience, there is FreeTube that you can install on your PC: FreeTubeApp/FreeTube
For my android brehs, NewPipe is the always there for you with download options and background play. Not only that but it can do the same for SOUNDCLOUD....all in one app: NewPipe - a free YouTube client
