They could have helped her more, but she definitely didn't help the issue. If I remember correctly, she said she hit him and caused him to swerve off the road or something, and they separated them for the night. They probably thought they were doing her a favor by not arresting her and then she would have been stranded. They probably honestly throught they were doing the right thing but in hindsight one of the 2 should have been arrested and Gabby probably should have been made to call her family to send for her. Would it have saved her life? I doubt it, she probably still would have ended up back in that van with him.
Edit: i haven't seen the documentary yet so I might be confusing my facts some

And since when do police put men in hotel rooms? They got him a hotel room, and gave her the keys to the van.

I don't remember the whole thing, i thought she was the one that got the hotel, so I was wrong on that part. In all honesty they should have taken them both in to talk more before letting thrm go. Looking back they definitely should have done something different, but not knowing what the outcome was is where it gets difficult. I just don't know man.
