The police essentially helped him escape as well by not keeping track of him. They couldn't force a grown adult to stay and not leave just as her family couldn't force her to leave him.

he must have decomposed quicker since he was underwater.
The area is full of alligators and rattlesnakes, and that area was submerged underwater until recently. They said the notebook may be salvageable. But I think it’s suspicious that the parents went there, and immediately found him. I think they knew he drowned himself, or was out there, and waited until the water went down.

No they don't. They did what a lot of parents would probably do. Protect their baby as long as they could no matter what. Sounds fukked up but I know I wouldn't just give my child to the police
