man this the type of shyt i hate about technology today, i loved the photos and stories that came from artists actually HAVING to be in the studio, whether working with a hot producer (or their "house producer") or being in the studio with the people they're collaborating with. nikkas today just drag and drop vocals over a beat and the song is done :mjcry:

There was something organic about it. Like hearing Quincy talk about being in the studio with Mike. :mjcry:

You know what is the worst? These studio documentaries of people hovering over a computer screen, it is almost like most producers are scared as fukk to have a musician or become a musician.

It makes it all to be extremely boring watching someone with a mouse just click click click .

For anyone who comes in here spouting this bullshyt "hip hop was never about musicians" bullllshyt to the highest.

The first ever hip hop label Sugar Hill Records had some of the goats of instruments to recreate the samples.

Know their names
Keith Leblanc
Doug wimbish
Skip McDonald

95 percent of the basis of sugar hill records hip hop production was live instruments in the studio, flipping the samples & giving the rapper a sonic groove to rap under.

They would TOUR with the studio band. That's how hip hop started on a rising "rockstar" level

Everyone was in awe of these guys, matter of fact most rappers were in awe that the band was backing them.

Which gives a whole new moment of reflection when you look at acts like BEP, Roots or Fugees. It turns out they were the original ESSENCE of hip hop production & not Marley Marl or what have you.
