"It's that serious"? If you have kids I hope you're serious about their well-being.
How is she going to change working conditions in he industry if she doesn't speak out about it?
She is completely right and all businesses should provide daycare if possible.
How can you say "You are taking me away from my family" if you are the one who signed up for the job knowing you had a kid at home? They arent taking you away from anything, you are choosing to put yourself in that position. If my wife goes and applies for a job and she knows beforehand they dont provide daycare, she cant show up the next day to work and tell them they are taking her away from her kids and making her work more than she would if she just stayed home. That just sounds idiotic.
But like i said, she has the power here. She could easily just ask for a nanny in her contract, or even easier, calculate how much a nanny would cost for the duration of time she is filming, and just increase her salary demand by that much. And honestly, do you think a movie star is going to just use the movie studio supplied nanny? Hell no, they are going to want to bring in their own nanny. So really what she is asking for once again is a pay raise.
Sounds like she went about this after the fact instead of having this put into her contract up front.
