2 million bucks right now, or $4,000 every week for the rest of your life?

2 mil now, or 4K a week until you die

Some of yall are thinking real small when it comes to the 2 million. That's why 4k a week is the smarter option for most.
Thinking big has to do with environment you're in/associated with. And it takes time, experience, research and planing for big investment idea to take off. Handing a bunch of amateur investors a lump sum increases the risk of running a loss. Like someone said if you can flip 2 mil you should be able to achieve that amount in real life whether trading options or borrowing money from the bank.

I think this is what's causing the divide. Most people want to just relax and chill w the $4K a month. Good for them.

My wife alone makes more than $4K a week and we ain't rich. So that $2M would give me a different lifestyle. The $4K week wouldn't.

I'd still keep working under either scenario

Well MC Hammer is labelled broke but well off than middle class American. Yes, there is levels in riches, being rich is relative to your lifestyle, peers, community and dept ratio. It's also more cheaper to leave in a lot state than the few exceptions. I think immigrants from third world country would beg to differ because that $4K week goes a long way. I also find it ironic how so many black militias on here hates white America but receiving 2 million will choose to stay and invest here?

I am saying being rich conceptual depending on the individual lifestyle, location, mindset and debt ratio. One can pay 8K rent affluent Manhattan neighborhood to automatically feel rich among society. So how you spend/value your money determines riches end of the day.

Um, OK.

$2M makes me rich, $4K a week doesn't.

I'm guess I'm the only one who would actually need to spend some of the 2 million before I could invest it. With my fiancé's med school debt and buying a house, nearly half of that 2 million would be gone.

why doesn't it?

it is all perspective.

you just seem to be drawing your arbitrary line in a different place than someone else.

For someone who claims to bring in more than 16K per month after tax I am surprised he'll values 2 million being rich.

Because my household brings in more than that, and I don't feel rich. I'd still have to use credit to make certain purchases, still wait for that weekly direct deposit to make certain moves. With extra $4K a week, I'd still feel limited in what I could do

To keep it 100% with you I suspect you're either lying about your income or both you and your wife are financial illiterates. What I highlighted said it all. How many American household makes close to 400K a year? You're insinuating to have that in the bag but find time to bytch in here.

Nothing to lie about.

Im very financial literate. Bought a certified pre-owned SUV a year ago, on 1.75% apr, took the cash we had on hand and invested it. Winning on both ends, great credit for a good deal and the market investment is doing well.

You seem upset that I said an extra $4K a week doesn't change my life. Take that up with your pockets, not mine

Smart and mature folks would nap up the 2 mill.

Is this true?
If you're old head already established career wise and saved up ready for retirement then why not take the 2 mil. But if young starting life with little savings then earning 4k perpetually will provide the opportunity/freedom to pursue anything in life. You don't have to even work for money ever and still leave above average. 2 million can be split in half with few bad choices.
