NYC really is terrible for standard of living and I been here all my life. The city taxes are fukkin crazy, I pay like 4k a year just on city taxes, like I understand why people move to the burbs even if their commute is like 2 hours. If you young and single and don't mind living with roommates, it's okay. But if you got a family, its just not that good.

This is why I wanted an expat/relocation forum on The Coli. With all the gentrification going we need to discuss this in an organized way.

What are some cheaper neighborhoods/areas in and around NYC or even on the east coast with easy travel time/public transportation?
