The album was mediocre and forgettable, but I recall a lot of you jocking the hell out of it when it dropped.

To be honest with you though, I fukked with it for a few spins. But then it had no replay value. Bumped it for about a week and a half then it was :camby: except for fukkwitmeuknowigotit.

Nothing will ever be worse than volume 3

Wait... huh? You realize that Vol 3 had Big Pimpin, right?

just by that fact alone this album is a million times better than Magna Carta.

Then you start adding up the other bangers:
So Ghetto
Do It Again
Come and Get Me
Jigga My nikka
Girls Best Friend
Anything

oh cmon

Being a civil rights activist does not mean you're above reproach.
:dead: @ Lettin a dude talk sideways about you just because of his social
stature.

i didn't say it meant belafonte was above "reproach" but what i am sayin' is show some damn respect, that's all :skip:

belafonte was an active member of the march. he marrrrrrrrrrrached! come on now :comeon:

y'all are missin' the fact that jay was comin' at belafonte like he was some rapper who had diss him on some ol bullshyt :aicmon:

i don't care what y'all think, it's bullshyt and wrong, period :camby:

i'm far from a political muthafukka. i'm a man of god above politics and i'm bout my bread. so the politics are what they are. but i put god first

so it ain't bout bein' political, it's bout respect

i'm a computer dwellin' lame yet i'm the one who's never heard of karate chop or it's remix? :skip: and if it's a track or remix that got a lot of play in the clubs in the last few years then yeah i have no idea what it is because i don't club no more and i haven't for the last 7 years :yeshrug: so ok, i'll be that "lame" :duck:

It doesn't matter if he marched, him marching does not give him a right to
disparage people in the media.

:yeshrug:
Dude went as far as to call Jay-Z's blackness into question because Jay-Z didn't
make the moves he felt Jay-Z should be makin :dead:

THR: Back to the occasion of the award for your acting career. Are you happy with the image of members of minorities in Hollywood today?

Belafonte said:
Not at all. They have not told the history of our people, nothing of who we are. We are still looking. We are not determinated. We are not driven by some technology that says you can kill Afghans, the Iraqis or the Spanish. It is all -- excuse my French -- shyt. It is sad. And I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is black.

Now if Jay-Z was just attacking belafonte that's a different story and you'd have a point.
But here ? Nahhhh....

Some of those either weren't on Vol.3 to begin with (Jigga My nikka and Girl's Best Friend) Amir weren't there at all (Anything)

All it had was Big Pimpin, Do It Again, Some Like It Hot, Dope Man and So Ghetto. The rest of that shyt aged horribly.

Fair point. I'm just saying there were actual bangers on Vol 3, even if most of it was trash. I'm not saying Vol 3 was great. I'm just saying it's a hell of a lot better than Magna Carta.

There are ZERO replayable songs on Magna Carta. You could talk Jay-Z key tracks and skip over that entire album. No one would notice.

But here ? Nahhhh....

come on now man, you gotta understand where an older man of his age and stage is comin' from and if you can't, you should at least try to understand

belafonte knows that with jay's money and power in the game, there's a lot more he could be do. that's not to say jay don't do shyt but still, you gotta understand where belafonte is comin' from with this. jay could take notes from belafonte and instead of tryin' to diss him in a rap song, he should be tryin' to reach out and talk to him and build with him. it's important to connect those bridges and know when to just listen instead of tryin' to show off or come off like you know it all already

jay is not an idiot, he's a grown ass man who knows full good and well about belafonte and how important belafonte is to black history so he should've just chalked up this loss and kept it movin':manny:
