"Horrorcore" is a subgenre that cacs came up with in retrospect for dark sounding rap music from the 90's like 3-6, Nip, Lynch, Esham etc. they even tryed to tag Geto Boys with the horrorcore label nobody was calling any of that music "horrorcore rap" back in the day...this shyt is really a new sub-genre of rap mostly inhabited weirdo cacs/cornballs...them ICP types.

But Geto Boys are the forefather of dark sounding, horror themed rap with over the top violent lyrics... Esham was probably the 1st to make an entire album based around this theme...then Nip, 3-6, Lynch, X-Raided etc. came along...

And while we're mentioning NIP we can't leave out his fellow SPC member Point Blank who could get every bit as gully as NIP back in the day.

He was one of the 1st to spit that over the top shyt as well
