Baltimore City on track to break 9-year homicide streak

Dec 21, 2023Baltimore City is on pace to break a nine-year-long streak. According to the Baltimore City Police Department, there have been 256 homicides in 2023 compared to 320 this time last year. It's the first time in nine years the city is on track to have less than 300 homicides. "For the first year in nine years, the homicide and the non-fatal shooting rate in the state of Maryland is beginning to break," Gov. Wes Moore said

Decent news clip that brings up a point that is usually missed. What are "acceptable" levels of crime and homicide? Any reduction or downward trend is good news, because we make up the demographic most likely to be victims of shootings/homicide, but the numbers are still startling.
