I'm one of the few brothas at work/school usually but I am a secret agent. I pretend to act like I'm a c00n but I'm black conscious and I'm heavy on that black generation wealth/black excellence steeze. I do the c00n charade to infiltrate blackless communities that aren't very receptive towards brothas and once I'm in, I throw a lot of bones to my brothas they can eat. Its because there are so few of us in the office, that when a new brotha shows up its assumed hes there to shadow and replace you. Every black professionals panic is for management to say

*hey have so and so shadow you*

He probably thinks you're there to take his spot. Ultimately though the work speaks for itself and 2 black professionals that handle business and make the company money can open the door to bring in more black people. (sometimes )

I tried to come at some black folks with that we gotta look out for each other angle and they dont want it. I say fukk it and let um burn on their own. You cant squeeze water out of a rock.

It's crazy though.. There's no way in hell I even qualify for their jobs, nor do they for mine, generally. I just get the feeling that they are trynig to like, preempt my attempt to gain an advantage with them by being black.. when all the fukk I was trying to do was ask a question or say whatsup. I'd say I've run into it 8-10 times in 6 years, so it isn't crazy common, but it's always the same feel and similar situation. Like a lot of nigs in the thread are saying, shyt is very c00nish. I work in a medium+ engineering/science company, and I've had too many of these run ins where I meet another black dude and he ice grills me or generally curves my questions/conversation for no apparent reason, yet if I observe them interacting with anyone else, they are laughing and shyt.


Example: I went to a presentation for the research branch of our company. They do the bleeding edge shyt. Black dude gave the presentation and invited people to talk 1on1 after the joint was over. I asked this dude 4 questions and he legit answered with a total of 4 words, all the whole looking at me like . Then the dude behind me, the chick behind him, and the dude behind her (no coco) all got a rousing conversation out of the dude, business card, all that. The chick asked 2 of the SAME questions I asked and the dude asked one of the same. nikka was all smiles and handshakes.

I swear I never wanted to pop the trunk on a nikka in a lecture hall so bad in my life.

Another Example: One of logistics dudes around here is a younger black dude. He stays socializing during his routes (he walks around a lot). I had to work with ol' dude a few times, and he starts off with a salty attitude, telling me I need to make sure my forms are in order and shyt. I saw homeboy fills forms out FOR people/tell them not to worry he'd skip that step.

The fukk is going on in professional black america? nikkas really boxing out like that? I ain't saying we need to all be friends, but this shyt is active selection.

i guess this must be a real problem. the wife said she sees the same thing with the black woman not speaking to one another unless they are best of friends. like why we acting on types of crazy when we finally make it in the professional world? i dont get it. now at my spot its so few black folks.
