rose is still one of the fastest players on the court
He just had another knee surgery on his meniscus a few months ago. He is an enigma now. I'm not sure we will see those bursts of speed or quickness on a constant anymore.

Rose is coming off the bench so he will have less wear and tear. Between Shump, Smith, Korver, and even Crowder they don't really need Rose to play out of position.
Mook isn't that good of a rebounder, he's a tweener who is a better 3 than 4. He'll be an improvement of over Olnyk and Amir, but it won't be through rebounding.
Important numbers for IT would be catch and shoot and this is where Irving is better:

Furthermore, Korver's 3P% went from .409 to.485 after being traded to the Cavs and LeBron's ability to get teammates better shots is well documented. On ball, LeBron and Irving took turns on offense and there's no reason to believe LeBron and IT won't. Him being worse in ISO may give Love more touches via pick and roll/pop, which would be better for the team anyway.
IT's biggest concern is his hip, but it's not like Irving has a clean bill of health himself...
I forgot to mention that. It is not going to help him when he is playing off ball and guys are playing physical with him to get him out of position or make things uncomfortable for him. This move is a risk for the Cavs. They also better hope BKN don't win about 30 games or the pick won't be top 5.
