u do know South Central is still the home to a large black demographic.. and South Central is also home to the most local black owned businesses in the country.

Can't speak for NYC tho, i know they are gentrified like crazy

I just had an epiphany that I'm sure someone else already said here and I just didn't read it.

Anyone else feel that if Charles was on his righteous, pro-black groove, the media would be quick to label him as a drunk, gambling addict, adulterer, and tempermental idiot? But because he chooses to use his platform to reinforce racist beliefs, he has instead become the "intelligent and honest voice of reason within the black community"?

Yep yep. Funny how they praise Barkley for calling out black pathology. But folks like Paul Mooney and Farrakan been calling out black pathology for years. But here is the thing they call out white folks for their shyt and pathology just as loud.

And them brothas get called out by white folks. I wonder why?

I will say this though. Sometimes folks will tell you exactly what they are about. That is why you have to listen to them very closely.

"if they paid me enough I would work for the Klan"

That is all you need to hear to know where he stands. Any black man that says that means that he would sell dope to kids, kill women and children or pimp and rape women to get paid.

With a mind set of that like Barkley thank goodness he was tall and could dribble a ball. If not lord knows what he would have done to get paid. Dude would have been out here harming folks and catching bodies for a dollar.

Yep he truly will do anything for a dollar and that really does make him a Sell Out.

Yeah but the problem with barkley is the media/white folks STILL view him that way regardless of his stance on racial injustices. It's just that they're more tolorable of him when he speaks about things in this way.

Charles is always mentioning what his grandma "taught him about race". Growing up in alabama in those days his grandma probably lived in fear & taught the famly to ALWAYS turn the other cheek, NEVER look at white folks directly in the eye, look down when you're walking & most importantly even if they cause you harm, you let "gawwwd" deal with it.

In 2014, that sounds like a parody but for many blacks in the south between the 40-70s it was like that, even for my great grandma & others probably. Like I said charles has been richer longer than he has been broke & he's out of touch, & I hate when people say "I speak my mind, I don't care what nobody think". When you're on the public platform, you can't be that way & even you're arent' you shouldn't. Too many people correlate thinking before you speak with being passive & that's NOT true.

It's a catch 22 for charles because being a tempermental loud mouth who speaks without thinking is what has made so popular & made him so much money post basketball...

April Shelton, who attended Leeds with Barkley's younger brother, took to Facebook and called Charles Barkley "an embarrassment."

She took exception to his branding people who rioted and looted in Ferguson "scumbags."

"These people are hurting, and I don't understand why he can't see the hurt within the community in which they live," she told USA TODAY Sports. "From what we went through in Leeds, Alabama, he should known better. He should know the struggle we went through."

Sidney Jones, who played basketball with Barkley in Leeds, said of his former teammate, "He's talking out of the side of his head. He didn't have none of these opinions in high school. You know, money and fame can really change a person."

Jones said he was one of a half-dozen of Barkley's former classmates who recently gathered to watch college football and the prevailing mood was: What in the heck is Barkley talking about?

This is really a indictment of Sir Charles himself.

:whoo:

Experienced the struggle first hand but not only refuses to acknowledge how many of this protesters/looters are truly venting out frustration (Remember, riots are the voices of the unheard. Violence, pain and suffering are the echoes of the weary.), having gone through that himself, he'd even go so far to paint them as monsters and as lesser than they are as human being. Thats how they got there to begin with.

:sas1:

What a shame. I can guarantee you he is tap dancing for someone or some organization........

As far as the shyt about nikkas in Alabama being afraid to stand up please tell me when was the last time nikkas got rowdy in Alabama over an injustice. What did they do for Trayvon? nikkas in the Republican ran Southern states know better than to revolt, they ppl told them how wicked the man can be and they know their place.

nikkas in Mississippi are the same way. You see nikkas in Oakland giving the law hell over some shyt that happened in Ferguson and Alabama is much closer and nikkas ain't do shyt.

So like I said nikka tell me what I'm lying about.

The fukk is this bullshyt.... I knew he had some hoe nikka tendencies but only thought he was half a bytch... turns out he a full blown chump..... the irony is that Alabama is the cradle/incubator for any leisure that your fictional black ass enjoys that real nikkas couldn’t prior to 1964......
