True Story:

This is a thing and you can be arrested/have the cops pullup on you for this.

Few years ago, I called myself waiting in the parking lot 30 minutes before the bank opened and the cops pulled up on me. Apparently this is protocol. Cops explained it to me and let me off. Lotta people don't know this. Sure as hell didn't. Bank robberies/casing the bank is the reason.

Well that's the thing, the bank manager was a black woman. Mix of tellers. They had been robbed a few months earlier (by a cac at that).

So I get it. Wasn't tripping after I spoke with the manager.

I just didn't know it was a thing where waiting outside of a bank can be seen as by the employees.

I work in this sector and managed multiple locations before just getting promoted.

I can tell you (without telling you) we have opening procedures to follow and we have to be mindful of folks pulling up excessively early to watch our procedures. However, what I’ve always done is walk right up to these cars before even opening and saying “how can I help?” If they are shady they’ll likely pull off, but most are forthcoming that they “thought you opened at (insert time”) to which you can advise them of the correct opening time and to come back, use the atm/self serve etc.

If you worked at a bank then you know many businesses do their cash deposits as soon as business opens. Using the deposit box isn’t always an option because some businesses will require management to obtain a deposit slip, which requires you to interact with an employee. If that business opens at 7am or 8am, they have to time when to stop working and go to the bank. You may get there a few minutes before the bank opens. This isn’t anything out of the ordinary.
