Yall gotta understand every teacher is not physically equipped to deal with threats from teens. They are not all roided up goons like "officer slam" and that shouldnt be a requirement just to teach a class. Sometimes these kids imtimidate teachers and threaten them with retaliation if they try to turn them in... especially older or female teachers. You guys think everything is so simple.. even when these kids get sent to the office for acting up they get sent right back to the teachers class after 5 minutes. I honestly dont know why anyone would want to work in a rough inner city high school to begin with. One of the most demanding and thankless jobs there is.
A teacher is a not and will never be a parent. They cannot be parents to the bad kids and teach the other 30 kids in the class at the same time. School is for learning period. You guys promote and reward bad behavior and then wonder why some kids say fukk it. Look at how much money was raised for the girl who was acting up in class that got removed by officer slam. What message yall think that sends the other 30 kids who come to that class day after day doing the right thing and trying to learn?
Yall need stop pretending yall care about these kids cause yall dont. These troubled kids never existed to you until a 15 second vine video went viral. Now yall wanna pretend to care about a foster kids well being? If this video or the other video of officer slam is shocking to you then you have been out out of touch with whats been goin on in schools across this country for years now..
Slow down, don't throw me into whatever category of people you're addressing.
When I was in school there was a PA system in every classroom that they play announcements & the national anthem on. They can also be used to communicate with the office.
And that was years ago so I assume that they would at least have the same technology or possibly an upgraded version.
Anyways, if that were me I would have stood up to the kids & if for whatever reason I couldn't control them or stabilize the situation I would have hit the button on the PA & asked for assistance.
And what, you're sayin all of the kids in the video are foster kids? Sounds like a stretch. Maybe the main guy who's actin up (which we don't even know for sure, we are speculating and assuming here) but all of them?
The kids in the video were not doing the same thing as the poor girl who got roughed up by officer slam. She was sitting calmly at her desk. These kids were wylin out all over the damn place, pickin chairs up, rollin on the floor and shyt.
This type of shyt does not happen and is not tolerated in Canadian classrooms.
It's normal that I'm out of touch with schools these days as I haven't been to a high school in years and don't have kids.
And it's also normal that I'm out of touch with the crazy shyt that's goin on in American classrooms cuz I don't fukkin live there.
I never said it was the teacher's job to be a parent to these kids but it is her job to control the classroom and to maintain an environment that is conducive to learning.
