Sounds like they are trying to trim costs so they can move to a steaming service model like HBO just did. Article said they would have to charge $30 under their current cost structure and we know people ain't paying that much.

The problem with cable in general is we don't have a la carte choices. We have package deals, so the cable channels know they can churn out whatever bullshyt they want and the service providers will still have to pay them. HLN is a damned news channel and it plays Forensics Files reruns for probably 1/2 to 2/3 of the day. CNN repeats news coverage over and over. MSNBC plays Lockup reruns during the weekends. The Discover channel stations all play reality TV shows and reruns.
When people have the option to pick what they want, cable channels are going to have to start posting up real content. I bet 3/4s of the channels will go bankrupt, but so what. I don't need a bunch of garbage shyt I'm never going to watch or isn't worth the money.

That's not my point. My point is, ESPN has TV Rights with my favorite sports... if not for that, that channel would be gone. ESPN knows this, too.
But I'm pretty sure one immediate fix will be to shut down all these regional broadcasting spots. Nobody give a fukk about ESPN LA, ESPN Chicago, ESPN Boston.
