With all due respect, a graphic equalizer aint gonna do shyt for poor quality source audio (garbage in, garbage out). Let's say you have a 128 kbps mp3 that was mastered poorly, any type of equalization is only going to help boost certain frequencies, it won't be able to replace the frequencies that were lost during lossy compression. Compare that to a lossless .flac file that was properly mastered in the first place and its a night and day difference, especially if it is in high-resolution like 24/96.
This is of course assuming we are talking about the same thing and the discussion wasn't simply referring to a poor mix, in which case a graphic equalizer could help some. That being said, people need to stop listening to music on their phones in mp3 format off itunes and shyt and get into the high-res game with proper DAPs/source players.

call me weird but there's something about the original mixes that has a better sound to it. I love that lofi rugged sound those OG tapes had, which shouldn't be re-mastered to be honest
