Putting a face to it makes it a real target. Also makes it look like he is "representative of the views and opinions" of the whole station which legal entities HATE. It was a real boneheaded move.

The hurt feelings in his "skybox n1gga" statement leads me to believe you're right.. But if he lost his PD position over poor ratings why would they give him as host of the flagship show as a soft landing?

what's funny is,...
he was setup to fail from jump anyway.
as his mouth was always filled with to much profanity for a pd.
let alone an on air personality.

I think he went to try to be an on air personality as a last ditch effort to spike ratings.
as he knew the axe was near.
so, he wanted to try to spike ratings.
then, use the spread sheet on his inclusion to the cast.
as a way to save face admin wise, to point to things being better.

yet, that backfired and they just locked him in.
to another position to make it easier on paper to justify getting rid of him.

dude was/is insulated by Flex/Angie/Star (later on) and all the success they had from the mid-90s to the early 2000. During that time, WBLS fell off, KISS went to old school R&B (and eventually got killed by ESPN) and they were able to get "exclusives" that not even other stations in LA, the Bay, Chicago, ATL or DC could get because NY ran Hip Hop and all the artists were within arms reach. Also, none of the shows on Hot97 (morning show, Flex or Angie's shows) were syndicated so they were not pressured by national ratings. If this was a situation like Big Boy, Tom Joyner, or Michael Baisden and ratings suffered, Ebro wouldnt have lasted a fukkin year because corporate woulda bodied him.

and the fact that Angie or Flex never got syndicated says ALOT about corporate and him. All the shyt Flex does is on him and he prolly makes more outside of the station doing his side ventures

Breakfast Club does a good job with their VH1 ass gossipy bullshyt - it's cool to see them interview people and put them in that place. Ebro can be successful if he goes a different route and does interviews more about music.

he does not know anything about music, like that.
he is not knowledgeable like angela yee, who was with wu tang.
plus, yee was influential in making a successful radio show.
that was similar to the source sex issue come to life on radio, too.
I don't even listen to radio or do the satellite radio shyt, and I know angela yee as that chick from those era's.
she has a unique pedigree.

he is not knowledgeable like char, who was with wendy Williams.

he is not knowledgeable like envy.
who is still a completely active dj.

he has no idea of how to cultivate a region.
as real talk....
what artist from Oakland.
is some huge national or international superstar from his area, in oakland he broke.

so, how can he come into anywhere and out do the breakfast club.
or, even be so demonstrative to ny talent.
when, he never even highlighted or found a grassroots Oakland artist that was skilled or a pop phenom.
to this day, we still only know the same Oakland artist from twenty years ago.

if ebro was so great in radio or the Oakland scene.

why is there no Oakland based artist who is the result of ebro's grind.

ebro does the same demeaning/condescending shyt to the grassroots talent that WGCI does to talent in Chicago.
except, he does it to artist in the mecca.
who culturally are generally bullet proof, and used to actually draw from classic records.
he does not even have the excuse of being condescending to talent.
when, the talent in ny.
trying to get on, may possibly be about the culture and they have skill.

at least in Chicago the condescending nature of WgCI is built on the main percentage of the artist.
being unskilled and not about the culture....
so,i understand the frustration and condescending tones from the dj's there.
yet, in ebro's case...
he disses the artist and they are actually skilled and culturally sound.

it was like he brought a westcoast bias or chip on his shoulder, to new York.
when, he is not some real culturally sound bboy to act that way.

this. that VH1 show is gonna be a failure and if he gets fired, he certainly earned it. how you supposed to run the top hip hop station in the country and let Power come thru and crush the building while WBLS and KISS are non-existant at this point. Flex and Angie alone have more brand equity than the whole Power 105 staff combined and its because of their history and how they helped build that station back in the 90s.

Letting Star go was a dumbass mistake considering that Howard Stern left "regular" radio and in the time after he left, NY radio (and the stations Stern was syndicated on) was fukkin lost. You keep Star, let him play the music he wanted to play (less hip hop) and Hot 97 woulda been eating forever. Yet, they overreact with the Aaliyah thing and then allow him to sign with Power 105 (which was still building themself up back then)

They coulda ate real well and had a great balance of a Star-driven morning show, gay as Mr. Cee doing his throwback at noon, Angie doing her thing at the drive time slot and Flex finishing it off in the prime time slot. Instead, you got your top tier DJs doing Western Beef commercials while Charlamagne basically is a wack Star clone and clowning the shyt outta Hot 97 in the process. With the drop in ratings and revenue over the years, management shoulda been got rid of him and let someone else take the wheel

Best case scenario is that the new Program Director brings Star in or takes Ebro off the morning slot and lets Cipha & Rosenberg do their thing...when it was just Cipha and Rosenberg the morning show was actually tolerable...they both have good chemistry...Ebro bringing in K. I always wondered why flex never was pd.
is it because he has outside ventures that take up his time, to do the job.
