The four people found dead inside their California home earlier this week have been identified as a former Meta engineer, his wife and their 4-year-old twin boys.
Friends said both Anand Sujith Henry and wife Alice Benziger were found dead inside their ritzy Bay Area home, located near the San Mateo Medical Center and Indian Springs Park, NBC Bay Area reported. The bodies of their young sons were also inside the residence.
Officers found all four bodies Monday morning after they were called to the residence to perform a wellness check. They arrived on the scene around 9:15 a.m. and knocked on the door several times but did not receive answer, according to a press release from the San Mateo Police Department. The officers then decided to search the perimeter of the home, eventually locating an open window they used to gain access to the home.
Once inside, they discovered both Henry and Benzigerdead from gunshot wounds in a bathroom, police said. A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also nearby
The twin boys were meanwhile found inside a bedroom, police said. Their causes of death were unclear, but sources told NBC Bay Area, authorities are investigating the possibility the children were either smothered or given a lethal dose of drugs, noting they showed no signs of trauma.
The San Mateo County Coroner has taken custody of all four bodies and is working to formally identify each of them.
According to LinkedIn, both Henry and Benziger worked in tech. Henry’s most recent role is listed as the co-founder of Logtis, an “in-house Generative AI.” Before that he worked as a software engineer manager for both Meta and Google. His wife worked at Zillow for the last six years, most recently as a data science manager.
The couple moved from India to the United States some nine years ago. According to documents viewed by NBC, Henry filed for divorce in December 2016 but apparently did not go through with it.
