During the Justice Or Else rally in DC this past weekend, Farrakhan called for blacks to boycott Christmas this year. Says we spend $400 Billion during Xmas holidays.

"This Christmas sit around the table, and bring Christ back to a day that was supposed to honor him.
Put the bottle down, put the loud down, put the beer down and get around your table with clean food and teach about Jesus and then show love forgiveness and reconcile your differences within the family, and this would be the best christmas that we've had in a long time. If you could put $400 billion dollars and keep it in your pocket, then you've got a little money to invest, and what we want to do is buy up as much land. We're asking government for 100 million acres as a start (about the size of California)."

-Farrakhan

ya'll with it?
I was kind of surprised at what he had to say.
Actually, I've believed this for a very long time. Christmas is a Christian holiday to observe the birth of Christ. It has become a commercialized holiday unlike any other religious holiday.
Outside of just sharing presents and eating food, there's a crap ton of money that goes into holiday decorations, pine trees, and lights. It is an industry in itself. People go into credit card debt to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on presents. That's crazy.
However, I don't know what he's talking about when it comes to buying up 100 million acres of land.

hmm he called for blacks to put down the bottle. put down the loud. and not spend money to support white supremacy.

what exactly is unrealistic or trolling?

It is like folks forgot or didn't read that economic boycotts were used in the civil rights movement.

On the real black folks shouldn't be spending all that money for Christmas anyway. Cut that spending down or in half if you must.

Black people shouldn't be celebrating Christmas anyway. Learn not the way of the heathen....Jeremiah 10.

It isn't a 'heathen' holiday and 'Black' people can either celebrate it or choose not to.

That's a myth.

Nothing
well christmas is a pagan holiday, so it really is the height of hypocrisy for anyone to proclaim to be christians and celebrate it. Besides that, the economic implications might be worth looking at. The discussion of unity and concentrated, strategic spending as a group might be beneficial, no?

I am willing to bet that your life involves pagan rituals that you agree with and conduct. Funny how Christmas is called a "pagan holiday" yet in America, everything we do is governed by ancient religious influences. and 9/10 times it involves religious systems which had multiple deities which we now call "Pagan".

Now, to claim that Christians (btw, I do not claim Christianity as my religious choice) are hypocritical for celebrating their saviors day of birth (and yes, I am more than well aware of the geological inaccuracies as well as the other information supporting the idea that Jesus was born in a different time) that is wild. You can't tell what one man should and shouldn't do if celebrating their religious preference doesn't cause you direct harm or anyone else.

The economic implications? what economic implications does this show? I mean if we are to be logical about this, majority of merchandise within stores are priced 5x more times it's actual production and shipping cost. iphone cost under 50 bucks to create right? yet retail anywhere from 400-1000+. it's called capitalism, and if one day can truly correct the economic issues at hand (GLOBALLY) then our economic system is dangerously frail.

I don't think that we don't have a large percentage within the economic market, but truth of the matter is this... until we truly begin to invest in businesses and ideas that benefits life and not just pockets, shyt will never change. keep running behind these false leaders just because their skin resembles yours, you will learn the hard way that everyone who looks like you doesn't have the best ideas for your life in mind.

trust me.

Easy to pickup on the surface talking points he's made the last 20 years :russell:

Meanwhile

He got a city permit from the District of Columbia to reserve the Capitol steps for he and his guests for roughly 6 hours

His guests (or tourists) from across the nation and around the world stayed in hotels (who owns them :russell: ??)

What about those retail stores, movie theatres (closest Magic Johnson theatre is in Largo MD) and restaurants ( who owns them :russell: ) ?

He's controlled opposition who gives the same speech with the same talking points. It's dope to listen to and it's great to see the kind of shape he's in but nah.. He's another false prophet

the biggest difference is that we're asking to BUY land with our collective money instead of continued support of white-owned, racist corporations. Is money not what makes the world go round suddenly?

horrible analogy.

I'm just thinking of the logistics of this. It's not a bad idea but like the size of California..... :patrice:

Man folks get second jobs just to buy Christmas presents. People take out loans or take out their 401k just for Christmas.

Roland Martin made a good point. Instead of buying kids Jordan's buy them some Nike Stock and put the certificate in a Nike box. Instead of buying the latest iPad buy some Apple stock.

At least your money will grow and it is a real investment. But just giving folks are money does not help or solve any problems.

And trust the media and folks won't say buy them BLM boycotts and protest did hurt these folks pockets even if it was a little.

Side note, I was looking through the Eastbay catalog while going number two, they had Nikes for $149.99 for grade school kids. For kids. They aren't even close to being able to jam the ball or be the next NBA prospect.
Nike has got their profit margin game on point. Its kind of sick, but they know what they are doing.

Alotta simple ass nikkas in this thread :snoop:

If not buying a bunch of stupid shyt which in turn feeds the same machine that you claim is "oppressing" you is an "unrealistic" request and too much to ask...than i guess all this police violence and systematic racism that you claim is so rife and such a hinderance to our collective progress is not really not all that big of a deal, where you can't even make a slight alteration to your life which entails something as simple as not putting money in the pockets of the same crackas that you claim hate you for things that you don't even need. :stopitslime:
