People have to understand that this is Africa (Zambia). Secondly, international schools are expensive but add a lot of value. They add value because if that kid graduates from the school, his diploma is easily recognizable for him to attend any western competitive university (i.e. Harvard Oxford Yale etc) of course if he wants to aim that high. I know this because one of my co-workers right now used to be a personal driver for a wealthy family in West Africa and the kids went to the American International school and they have the same curriculum as some of the elite high schools in the US and most of the graduates usually end up attending a competitive US university.

Not to derail the thread and subject matter but when we have these discussions about how "rich" or "well off" Africa immigrants are in the US it's these ones and they usually dont stay in America but come here for school and go back to their home countries to work and live large. The vast majority arent from this background where their certifications are accepted in the western world.

Secondly, there is no "community college" ambitions. The dad is obviously wealthy paying 21k for school and firmly believes his child is capable of better hence disciplining him which is common in African households there isn't such thing such "college isn't for everyone" or "i am not good at math" mentality. Every child is capable especially those getting a 21k education and every child can be trained to be good at everything.

I get the disappointment but disagree with hitting someone (much more effective way imo to discipline someone outside of physical harm). When he is saying the child can't read he probably doesn't mean it literally, Africans parents tend to exaggerate failures in order to drive the point home. It's not meant to be literal.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
My mom saved up for my tuition since birth so I never had student loans ever and I have two degrees. Failing in school was never an option for me. People need to learn to be considerate and understand what opportunities are being given to them.

I’m looking to get a third degree and the fact that I see people with 100K loans makes me want to get nothing below an A in every class I take

Slapping another man isn't a way to discipline children, nothing wrong with hitting children but at the same time if these kids are in college they adults :mjlol: . My dad would always hit me as a child, but even he said that slapping is very demeaning and I have an African father :russ:

that was light

we all know people that use to get beat and punished for just fuking up the maths homework
years ago the kid next door to me had to keep his arms in the air for 2 hours while facing the wall just for getting a question wrong on his maths homework, breh ended up becoming a space scientist
