damn $20k? fukkin' kids...all they cause is problems 
That's $4,320,000 over the course of 18 years for a kid that is under joint custody. NO kid requires that much to raise. Most of that is going to go into his own expenditures/him working on his next family. Halle better hope that she can manage her money for the next 18 years because she might end up in jail.

If they truly have joint custody this makes absolutely no sense.
It does in most joint custody cases, 70% of the time the one who makes the most money pays child support.
