I wouldn't be against moving Jonas to upgrade the 4. Biyombo is one of the best defensive 5s around . If he could consistently carry what he's done into starters minutes he'd be elite defensively. Pair him with an offensively talented 4 and you could have something potentially special

if they fail, the best course of action is to offload some talent to other teams that need a boost and build over the course of 3 years for when the Cavs fall off their pedestal

Even then, teams like the Pistons, MAYBE Bucks, and Orlando are more poised to be great teams.

Great teams build through the draft usually. Spurs, Warriors, OKC...all those teams built through the draft when it came to building finals worthy teams and teams like Cleveland used top draftpicks to acquire talent. That's my opinion. Your core 2,3 players should typically be acquired through the draft. There are obvious exceptions like Dallas and Miami but meh. A good scouting and development staff > trades is probably more important than the GM imo.

Re-sign DeRozan, add the top 10 pick, make sure you get a real starting 4 and keep building.

I can see the case for trading JV and rolling with Biyombo but you need a 4 that can score if that's the plan. Biyombo only scores off dump-offs and offensive boards. Against teams with real frontcourts that's a problem.

That's also one reason I'm not worried about facing the Pacers in the playoffs. They're one of the few teams in the league that we have an edge over up front.

The amount of Jonas hate on this board is unbelievable, dude is THE SAME AGE as Bismack. He's only 23 but you guys are bigging up biyombo at 23 like he can still flourish but Jonas can't?

Listen, I like BOTH these dudes, but the amount of disrespect is crazy.

He's way more effective on offense, and boards just as much. You guys going off of a few games like Jonas hasn't had big rebounding games against soft teams as well.

Jonas with a PER of 22 is not the problem on this team. However, if he was traded, especially Ina deal that got us cousins or something similar I wouldn't blink an eye.

But he's still a young effective bigman, playing on a team that doesn't respect ANY bigs, and still playing well.

Why does BB get substituted for JV on offense?
It's the same fukking scenario, but you fukkin clowns want to make this a race thing.

He's not a terrible defender, obviously biyombo is better, so the team is smart using the better defender on defense. But conversely, on offense JV is way better.

They are both the same age, and in fact biyombo has been in the NBA longer and still hasn't gotten better on offense really.

Another thing you guys seem to realize is that the problems on defense are on the perimeter not on the inside.
When they get blown by then JV has to come over to support that, but he's to slow to make it over. He RARELY gets beat by his own man.
Biyombo however, is quicker and more athletic so he can make up for the wings getting beat.

So is he a terrible help defender? Or is the perimeter terrible on defense?

(I know the answer, and most of you do as well) what's even funnier is that you have dudes talking about how bad derozans defense is, or how Lowry plays d, or how Ross or whoever else sucks on d.
Add scola paired with JV and it's a mess. But all the blame is always on JV. Smh.
